What’s ahead for our internationals

Many Strasbourg players, from both the first team  and the Racing Mutest Academy, will represent their countries during this international break in September.

Matz Sels – Belgium

Our number 1 goalkeeper was once again called up to defend the colors of the Red Devils during two matches as part of Euro 2024 qualifiers: Azerbaijan-Belgium (09/09) and Belgium-Estonia (12/09) .

Alaa Bellaarouch – Morocco U23

Alaa will join the Moroccan U23s for a pair of friendly matches against Brazil, on September 7 and 11 in Fez.

Alexandre Pierre – Haiti

Starting goalkeeper for Haiti during the recent Gold Cup last July, Alexandre Pierre is once again part of the squad. On the program: two CONCACAF Nations League matches, against Cuba on 08/09 in Santo Domingo (Dominican Republic) and in Jamaica on 13/09.

Abakar Sylla – Ivory Coast

Our new recruit will join Les Éléphants to play an AFCON qualifier, against Lesotho on 09/09 in San Pédro, then a friendly match against Mali on 09/12.

Saïdou Sow – Guinea

Also a new Racing player, Saïdou will also join the Guinea national team. He will play a match as part of the AFCON qualifiers, in Malawi on 09/09.

Steven Baseya – French U-19

A youngster who arrived at the club this summer, Steven will experience his first call-up with the French U-19s. He will travel with Les Bleuets to Serbia to play in an international U-19 tournament and face Montenegro, Hungary and Serbia.

Habib Diarra and Robin Risser: French U21

The big surprise of this international break, our two youngsters trained at the Racing Mutest Académie, Habib Diarra and Robin Risser (on loan this season at Dijon) were selected by Thierry Henry, new coach of Les Espoirs for two matches. The first is a friendly against Denmark on September 7 in Nancy, and the second is on September 11 in Slovenia as part of qualifiers for the 2025 Euro U-21s.

Sanjin Prcic – Bosnia Herzegovina

Sani is once again called up for international duty, as part of the first squad of new coach Meho Kodro. Two Euro 2024 qualifying matches are on the program: Bosnia Herzegovina-Liechtenstein on September 8 and Iceland-Bosnia Herzegovina on September 11.

Emanuel Emegha – Netherlands U-21

Our new young striker will join the Oranje for two qualifying matches for the 2025 U-21 Euros, against Moldova on 08/09 and in North Macedonia on 12/09.

Lebo Mothiba – South Africa

It’s Lebo’s big return with Bafana Bafana! 4 years later, he will return to the  national team for two friendly matches, against Namibia (09/09) and against DR Congo (12/09).

Samir El Mourabet and Oussama Lyakoubi – Morocco U-20

Our two players from the Elite Group were called up with the Moroccan U20s for two friendly matches against Belgium, on September 8 and 10, in Morocco.

Nolan Ferro and Tidiane Diallo – French U-18

Our two youngsters from the Racing Mutest Académie are once again called up together for the French team, this time with the U18s. They will participate in the Limoges International Tournament, from September 3 to 11, and will face England, Portugal and Japan.

Mahamadou Kanouté – French U-20

Called up at the last minute to compensate for an injury, Mahamadou Kanouté will join the French U-20s to play two friendly matches in Denmark, on September 8 and 11.
