D2 Féminine: American Samantha Rosette joins Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace

Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace has added a new defensive player with the arrival of Samantha Rosette, a 25-year-old American defender.

Born on January 15, 1998 in New York, Samantha played and studied at the universities of Virginia and Villanova between 2016 and 2021. After completing her university studies, she played for the reserve team of Gotham FC as a semi-professional. The Bronx native finally signed her first professional contract with BIIK (Kazakhstan), where she competed in the Champions League. She then continued her career in Lithuania with FC Gintra for 9 months, once again participating in the Champions League and winning the Lithuanian championship with her team. Since then, Samantha had been training with Gotham FC, this time with the professional squad, after which she joined Racing Club de Strasbourg today.

The new player of Vincent Nogueira, who will wear the number 2 on her jersey next season, expressed her excitement about this new challenge in Alsace:

“I am very excited and grateful to join such a historic club as Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace. I came for a trial with the team a few months ago, and Vincent, Guillaume, the entire staff, and my now teammates were very warm and welcoming despite the language barrier. I find the team’s level and style of play very interesting. I quickly realized that I would be happy in Strasbourg, and today I am very pleased with this opportunity to return to Strasbourg to represent the club and this beautiful city. I am determined and ready to do everything I can to help the team achieve its goals. I am already looking forward to starting the season. Jetzt geht’s los!

The coach of the Strasbourg women’s team expressed his satisfaction at having a versatile player with a different cultural background: “Samantha is a very versatile player as she can play in all side positions, both on the left and right. I hope she can also bring her North American mindset, which is slightly different from that in France. I have no doubt that she will quickly adapt to the rest of the group, as the players have already met her during training before the end of last season.
