Yuito Suzuki to Strasbourg

Japanese midfielder Yuito Suzuki has signed with Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace.

A talented player, he has already played 83 games (53 as a starter) in the J-League, Japan’s national championship, for Shimizu S-Pulse and has played in the Asian Nations Cup with the Japanese U23 team. A central midfielder who can also play on the sides, with good foot skills and excellent game vision, Suzuki joins Racing as a post-formation player and will be available to the Pros, training with them, including his compatriot, Eiji Kawashima. The latter is very complimentary about his new teammate: “He has a lot of potential and already has a lot of talent. And he’s also a boy with a great personality. I am thrilled with his arrival in Strasbourg and I will do my best to facilitate his adaptation.

President Marc Keller is also thrilled with the arrival of Yuito Suzuki: “We are very happy to welcome him to Strasbourg. For a long time, we have wanted to open up to Asia. He was one of the young players we were following and we had gone to observe three years ago. Unfortunately, the pandemic slowed down the process but we continued to watch a lot of videos. Then we evaluated him again a few months ago on a tour of the Japanese U23 team in Spain and Portugal where he confirmed all the good we thought of him.

This is a very important day for me,” Suzuki declared upon discovering the Meinau field and posing with his Strasbourg shirt with the number 18. “I will discover another continent, another culture, another football, I will continue to progress, to grow as a man and as a footballer. Ligue 1 is one of the best championships in Europe, Strasbourg is an iconic club and it is a fantastic opportunity for me. I like challenges and I can’t wait to take this one on!
