Saïdou Sow at Strasbourg

Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace and Association Sportive de Saint-Etienne have reached an agreement for the transfer of Saïdou Sow (21 years old), who has committed himself to a 5-year contract with Racing.

Born in Conakry (Guinea), it was in the Parisian region that Saïdou Sow took his first steps as a footballer, at the Neuilly-sur-Marne club. Spotted by Saint-Etienne scouts, he arrived in Forez at the age of 14 and signed his first professional contract in September 2020. A few days later, he made his debut in Ligue 1 against Lens (28 total matches in the top flight) and then for the Guinean national team, with which he participated in the 2021 Africa Cup of Nations. In his second season with Saint-Étienne, in Ligue 2, Sow went on to play 25 matches, including 19 as a starter. A precocious talent on the field, Sow is also accomplished in his studies, as he obtained his Baccalaureate in Economics and Social Sciences (ES) at the age of 16!

We are pleased to welcome Saïdou to Strasbourg,” stated President Marc Keller. “He is a strong and powerful defender, and he also has an interesting potential for improvement. He is also a well-educated young man, with great values, and I was particularly impressed by the conversations I had with his mother and family.”

It is an honor for me to sign here,” continued Saïdou Sow. “The presented project appealed to me. Strasbourg is a great club, Strasbourg is a beautiful city, and the Meinau is a very passionate stadium! I will continue my progress and give my all for my new colors, in order to make proud all those who have faith in me.”
