Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel signs for Racing

The 24-year-old joins the club from FSV Mainz 05 on a season-long loan with an option to buy.

Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel is Racing’s third recruit at full-back after Thomas Delaine and Colin Dagba. Marc Keller, President of Racing Club Strasbourg Alsace said: “Karol Fila has pubalgia and he’ll be out for several weeks. This is a long enough delay to make us react in order to secure our options at right-back. We’re therefore very happy to welcome Ronaël Pierre-Gabriel for this season. He’s on loan with an option to buy from Mainz.

Although only 24 years old, Pierre-Gabriel already has solid experience in Ligue 1 with 98 matches played in the space of six seasons.

Born in Paris in 1998, the French joined the Paris Football Training Centre in 2012 before leaving to try out at AS Saint-Étienne and Inter Milan. It was with Saint-Étienne that he continued his training, and where at 16 years old he played his first match in Ligue 1 with the first team on 29 November 2015 in a 3-0 win for the Verts against Guingamp. Pierre-Gabriel signed his first professional contract at the end of the 2015/16 season before joining AS Monaco in 2018. He joined Mainz in the Bundesliga in 2019 before being loaned to Brest in 2020 for two seasons.

The Parisian is therefore starting a new challenge and eager to start in his new colours. Pierre-Gabriel said: “I’m very happy to join Racing. It’s a club with a great history, important values and passionate supporters. Strasbourg is a stronghold of French football. I really liked the talks with the club leadership. There are really great things to do here.
