Originally from Lyon, Junior Mwanga started out at Cascol, a club in Oullins associated with railway workers, before joining FC Lyon at the age of 14. His excellent performances caught the attention of Girondins de Bordeaux, where he joined their U17 team.
He was fielded as a starter in the last match of Ligue 1 in the 2021-2022 season against Brest. Strong in duels and skilled in distribution, he established himself within the Bordeaux squad last season in Ligue 2, playing as a central defender or defensive midfielder. Junior Mwanga is also a French U20 international.
“We are very pleased to have Junior Mwanga, who is a highly promising young defender, for the upcoming seasons.” said President Marc Keller. Like his former Bordeaux teammate Dilane Bakwa, he can thrive and continue his progress at Racing, where we welcome him.”
“This is a significant step in my career,” Junior Mwanga rejoiced. “Playing at the highest level has always been my dream, and I’m truly excited to discover the Meinau stadium and its atmosphere. Now it’s up to me to give my best for the fans, the team, and the coach, who has an exceptional background and will contribute a lot to young players like me.”
