Ibrahima Sissoko to leave Strasbourg

After six seasons of loyalty, Ibrahima Sissoko will leave Strasbourg at the end of the season.

He played his first match with Racing in August 2018, before he even turned 21. And he will play his last minutes in the Alsatian colours against Metz and Lyon, at almost 27 years old.

Arriving from Brest in the summer of 2018, the midfielder won the 2019 Coupe de la Ligue in his first season. In 197 matches, he greatly contributed to the various survivals done by the club, as well as to the 2021-2022 season in which the team finished in sixth place. His recent performances in Alsace opened the doors to the Malian international team, for whom he has two caps.

There is a key statistic that symbolizes his loyalty to the club: only five players have played more matches than him with Racing over the last 30 seasons: Dimitri Lienard (331), Guillaume Lacour (275), Alexander Vencel (213), Stéphane Cassard (226) and Pascal Johansen (213).

“I would like to thank Ibou, who has embodied the values of Racing for six seasons. It is increasingly rare to see a player stay at a club for such a long time. After six years of loyalty and almost 200 matches, we wish him the best for the rest of his career,” declared Marc Keller, president of Racing Club de Strasbourg Alsace.
