International break: the results of our Strasbourgeois

Fifteen players of Racing were called by their respective national selections during this international window of this month of March. Return on the performances of our Blue & White.

Matz Sels (Belgium): Euro 2024 Qualifiers + friendly match

Invited with the Red Devils for the first list of Domenico Tedesco (with Thibaut Courtois and Koen Casteels), our goalkeeper did not play for the two games.
After a nice victory in Sweden for the first Euro 2024 qualification match (0-3), where Courtois defended the goal, the Belgians ended the gathering with a historic 3-2 victory in Germany in a friendly, with Casteels in goal.

Robin Risser (France U19): 2nd round Euro U19 Qualifiers

Three qualification matches were on the program for the French U19 team and Robin Risser. He was in goal for the first game against Northern Ireland (1-0), he was on the bench for the defeat against Norway (1-2) before being again in the starting line-up for the last game against Romania (2-4).
The defeat against Norway unfortunately does not allow the young squad to qualify for Euro 19.

Ismaël Doukouré (France U20 then U23)

Called up with the French U20 team for a series of friendly matches, Ismaël Doukouré finally joined the Espoirs to make up for the absence of several defenders for their last preparation match.
He started with the U20s for the first game against the United States (4-0 victory), and was a substitute for the second game against the Netherlands (2-1 defeat). He was then substitute with the Espoirs this Tuesday against Spain (0-0) and came on at the 64th minute.

Tom Saettel (France U18): friendly matches

The French U18 team has gathered for a double friendly against Germany. Bernard Diomède, the coach, called for the occasion Tom Saettel. He came on as a substitute in the first match, but came on at the very end of the game (4-3 victory). For the second game, he was a starter and gave up his place at half-time (3-0 defeat).

Nolan Ferro (France U17): 2nd round Euro U17 Qualifiers

Our player of the Racing Mutest Academy has been called to play the Elite Qualification Round of the Euro U17 with the French Team. With 3 matches on the program, we had to finish at the first place to qualify for the European competition.
The first game was against Albania, where Nolan Ferro was a starter and played the whole game (victory 4-0). He was again a starter for the second game (victory 2-1 against Latvia), and he was a substitute for the last game against Switzerland and came on at the end of the game (victory 1-2). With 3 victories, the Bleuets qualified without too much difficulty!

Alexander Djiku (Ghana): African Nations Cup 2023 Qualifiers

Our vice-captain was called with the “Black Stars” for two matches counting for the qualification to the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (to be played in January 2024). He started the first game against Angola (1-0 victory), but had to give up his place at the 87th minute because of an injury. He was not on the game sheet for the return match four days later.

Eduard Sobol (Ukraine): Friendly match + Euro 2024 Qualifiers

Our new Ukrainian defender has been called to the national team to defend the colors of his country. Facing England in an official match, the Ukrainians lost 2-0 at Wembley, and our number 77 entered the game in the 61st minute.

Jean-Eudes Aholou (Ivory Coast): African Nations Cup 2023 Qualifiers

Jean-Eudes Aholou was back with the national team for new matches counting for the qualification for the Africa Cup of Nations 2023, competition for which the Elephants are already qualified as the host country.
For the first match against Comoros (3-1 victory), “J-E” was a substitute and entered the game at the 72nd minute. For the return match, he was a starter and gave up his place at the 67th minute.

Sanjin Prcic (Bosnia-Herzegovina): Euro 2024 Qualifiers

New selection for Sani to start the Euro 2024 qualifications with Bosnia! Our midfielder and his teammates started with a victory against Iceland (3-0) during which Sanjin entered the game at the 71st minute. For the second game, they traveled to Slovakia and lost 2-0. Our number 14 entered the game at the 63rd minute.

Habib Diallo (Senegal): African Nations Cup 2023 Qualifiers

Senegal had the possibility to get its ticket for the next African Cup of Nations in January 2024. Habib Diallo was called by the coach Aliou Cissé to try to achieve this goal in the double confrontation against Mozambique.
The first leg at home was successful, with a big 5-1 victory during which our home striker came on in the 64th minute and even scored the last goal of the game in the 88th minute! For the return match, the essential was assured with a 1-0 victory. Habib Diallo came on in the 64th minute. With these two victories, the Lions are already qualified for the CAN before the last two games in June.

Yuito Suzuki (Japan U21): friendly matches

Our new Japanese recruit was back in the national team with the U23s for two friendly matches.
The first one, against Germany, ended in a draw (2-2). Yuito was in the starting line-up but gave up his place in the 86th minute. The second game against Belgium ended in a defeat (3-2), despite the equalization of our n°18 in the 64th minute, before being replaced in the 87th minute.

Nordine Kandil (Morocco U23): friendly matches

Our young midfielder was called for the first time with the Moroccan Espoirs team to play three friendly matches!
The first one was against Ivory Coast (which allowed Nordine to meet Moïse Sahi, on loan at FC Annecy, who also got his first call-up with the Eléphants Espoirs, and who scored a goal during the game) and ended with a 3-2 defeat. Nordine came on in the 86th minute.
He was also a starter for the 3rd game, against Uzbekistan, our number was a starter and participated in the 3-0 victory.

Alexandre Pierre, Fredler Christophe and Dany Jean (Haïti): CONCACAF Nations League – League B

3 of our young players, Alexandre Pierre, Fredler Christophe and Dany Jean, were called to the Haitian national team for the last games of the CONCACAF Nations League.
Alexandre Pierre was in goal for the game against Montserrat, while Dany Jean and Fredler Christophe did not participate in the game (4-0 victory). For the game against Bermuda, our goalkeeper was on the bench and our two offensive players came in at halftime to help win (3-1). Haiti finished in first place, synonymous with a move up to League A for the next edition of the CONCACAF Nations League, but also qualification for the Gold Cup, gathering the best nations of North America, Central America and the Caribbean!
