Former players in the spotlight

The Association of former RCSA players and coaches held its traditional General Assembly last Sunday in Strasbourg. A great occasion to gather around its President Léonard Specht with more than 70 glorious Racingmen, all generations included, and to honor them: “Racing is a big family and we are always so happy to meet again, explains Léo Specht. Marc Keller, who is at the origin of the creation of the Association, has a great respect for those who have worn the colors of the club and who perpetuate its values. He is nourished by this culture and he instills this dynamic”.

From François Keller to Vincent Nogueira, through Martin Djetou, Guillaume Lacour, Quentin Othon, Ali Bouafia or Bruno Paterno, there are more than ten former players working for the club, in the first team, in the Racing Mutest Academy or in recruitment. ‘’There is no future without a past“, Marc Keller, President of the RCSA said. ‘’The alumni are an essential component of Racing and they are an integral part of our project. Their presence in number testifies to their love for the club and the strong attachment that binds us.’’

On Sunday, after their AGM and a friendly lunch in the city center, the alumni attended the match against FC Lorient at the Meinau, with Albert Gemmrich, 1979 French champion with Racing and today President of the Grand-Est Football League, even giving the fictitious kick-off of the match, alongside a manager of an amateur club. It was an opportunity for everyone to share good memories, in the lounges, in the stands or on the pitch, like Johnny Schuth, winner of the 1966 French Cup, who was moved to tell the story of this memorable day to the microphone of the announcer Jean-Luc Filser, under the eyes of his many teammates of his time.
